Everybody can start a blog these days. Which is a good thing since it is perfect for training that focus muscle. After reading many of these blogs I discovered that there are basically five types of bloggers. And that I have a guilty pleasure…
Blogging is one of my favorite ways to ‘train my focus’. So is reading other blogs. During the day I read many different ones. I have to confess: one of my guilty pleasures is that I also like to follow and read strange blogs. That can be either blogs by interesting people or blogs with interesting subjects. Those writings fascinate me and I just can’t stop reading! In my opinion there are basically five types of bloggers. Do you recognize them? Are you one of them?
Types of bloggers: the strange blogger
As I mentioned before: with strange blogs I refer to blogs by interesting people or blogs with interesting subjects.
Somebody should warn them about this.
What do I mean by interesting people?
Well, that can be people that are really authentic and painfully honest. People who share all the intimate – often strange or painful – details of their life. Things you and I would never write down because we would be too ashamed or scared to share. But somehow these people have the courage to share it on the internet. A place where everybody can read it and where it will never go away. Somebody should warn them about this. I should warn them! But I don’t because I want to keep reading…
These bloggers are able to combine House of Cards with the X-Files and Dexter
What do I mean by strange blogs?
For example blogs about outrageous conspiracy theories. Blogs by people that are convinced they discovered a large conspiracy, some kind of evil ‘new world order’ or upcoming alien invasion. A hidden group of people that is running things in the background. They dedicate their lives to uncovering these truths and warning us with their blogs. Aliens are among us! These bloggers are able to combine House of Cards with the X-Files and Dexter and make a much better story along the way.
did you count how many times I use the word ‘blogs’ in this blog?
Types of bloggers: the SEO blogger
The SEO blogger only blogs with ranking high on Google in mind. The same ‘hot’ keywords appear everywhere throughout the text. Which makes the text unreadable and looking like an advertisement. But who cares? All that matters is that you appear on page one of the Google search results. Nobody actually has to read it! And did you count how many times I use the word ‘blogs’ in this blog?
Types of bloggers: the must blog blogger
“Have you written that blog yet?” Blogging is good for many things. That is why a lot of companies ask their employees to write blogs. Some people like to do that. But most don’t. They keep procrastinating and often manage to write a blog that is…..well….uninspired. It is like reading the manual of your new coffee machine. Can’t blame them for trying though. And they did exactly what their boss asked them to do.
No eye candy here!
Types of bloggers: the minimalist blogger
This is the blogger that is only concerned with the writing itself. The blog often consists of just plain text and nothing else. It’s just letters and words on the screen. No eye candy here! Sometimes even the text is not formatted with headers, alineas and paragraphs either. This does not mean that the blogger is a bad writer. In fact, quite often the writing is very good. It’s just so very hard to read!
Types of bloggers: the formal blogger
A formal blogger is someone who thinks he or she is writing a scientific thesis or ancient political manifest online. The language used is often archaic and very hard to read. That is not a huge problem because no one will ready it anyway (well…besides me).
